Λόγω της αρχιτεκτονικής κληρονομιάς της και του πολιτισμού της, αποτελεί διαμάντι για τη περιοχή και πόλο έλξης, μυριάδων τουριστών. <br /> <br /> __TOC__ <br /> <br /> ==Ιστορικά== <br /> <br /> Εξιστορείται πως τα πολύ παλιά χρόνια στα δυτικά του σημερινού χωρίου Γαλάτα ζούσαν κάποιοι βοσκοί με τα κοπάδια τους. Η τοποθεσία αυτή ονομαζόταν Έσσω-Γαλάτα. Οι κατωχωρίτες (οι άνθρωποι που ζούσαν στα χαμηλότερα μέρη), πήγαιναν εκεί και αγόραζαν γάλα από τους βοσκούς που τους ονόμαζαν γαλατάες. Κατα τη παράδοση από τους γαλατάες προήλθε η ονομασία Γαλάτα.<br /> <br /> Άλλη παράδοση αναφέρει πως οι πρώτοι κάτοικοι, κατέφθασαν από την Γαλατία της Μικράς Ασίας και ονομάζονταν Γαλάτες (Βυζαντινή περίοδος).Γι' αυτό το λόγο, ο μικρός οικισμός τους ονομάστηκε Γαλάτα.<br /> <br /> ==Θέση== <br /> Η Γαλάτα βρίσκεται 60 χιλιόμετρα δυτικά της Λευκωσίας, στην όμορφη κοιλάδα της Σολιάς. Έχει υψόμετρο 620 μέτρα πάνω από την επιφάνεια της θάλασσας.Είναι κτισμένη στις δύο όχθες του Κλάριου Ποταμού, που την διασχίζει και πνίγεται κυριολεκτικά στο πράσινο. Είναι ενωμένη με την γειτονική κοινότητα της [[Κακοπετριά|Κακοπετριάς]]. Και οι δύο αυτές δίδυμες αδελφές κωμοπόλεις της Σολιάς, δέχονται ολόχρονα χιλιάδες τουρίστες.<br /> <br /> <br /> ==Καλλιέργεια== <br /> Η Γαλάτα είναι φημισμένη για τα εύγεστα φρούτα της που παράγει σε μεγάλες ποσότητες, ιδιαίτερα μήλα όλων των ποικιλιών, χρυσόμηλα, ροδάκινα, κεράσια, φορμόζες, σταφύλια και άλλα, καθώς επίσης και ποικιλία φρέσκων λαχανικών.<br /> <br /> <br /> ==Αξιοθέατα== <br /> Μερικά από τα αξιοθέατα τα οποία κοσμούν την Γαλάτα και αξίζουν να επισκεφτείτε είναι η νερόμυλοι της Γαλάτας, το Μονοπάτι της Φύσης Αρχάγγελος – Μύλος της Ροδούς,οι βρύσες της Γαλάτας,[[ο Κλάριος ποταμος]], τα παραδοσιακά σπίτια της Γαλάτας και διαφορες εκκλησίες/εξωκλήσια οπως η Παναγλια Ποδιθου και ο Άγιος Σωζόμενος.<br /> <br /> ==Πηγές== <br /> *http://www.galata.org.cy/index.shtm</div>
